Early
Intervention Services Jane
Resh, Program Director
What
are Early Intervention Services? Early Intervention (EI) services
are specialized services provided to families in York and Adams Counties with
young children (ages birth to three years) who have or are at risk for developmental
delay. Early Intervention Services are completely free for eligible young children
and their families. This program, provided with funding from the York/Adams Mental
Health/Mental Retardation Program, is designed to provide family training and
therapeutic services to enhance the child's development according to the family's
priorities.
Family-Child Resources offers EI services to eligible families:
Developmental Therapy
Physical Therapy
Occupational Therapy
Speech
Therapy
Feeding Services
Behavior Management
Infant Massage
Is
My Child Eligible for These Services? An evaluation to determine if
your child is experiencing developmental delay is required to receive EI services.
Your child(ren) must be between the ages of birth and three years and have or
be at risk for delay in at least one of the following developmental areas:
Gross Motor (crawling, walking)
Fine
Motor (use of hands)
Social
Skills (sharing, smiling)
Cognitive
Skills (thinking)
Adaptive/Self-help
Skills (dressing, feeding)
Language
Skills (talking, listening)
We advise all families
to monitor their child's development on an ongoing basis using a developmental
checklist. If you are concerned about your child's development, please discuss
this with your doctor.
