Family-Child Resources offers the largest parent education program
in the area, serving over 900 parents last year. Parents in York
County can participate free of charge in a variety of parenting
groups offered at different times and locations.
Parenting Solutions
This group offers parents an opportunity to understand children's
behavior and learn basic principles of child management. Parents
who are seeking enrichment and parents who are having problems with
their children are encouraged to attend. Discussion topics include
consistency, being a good role model, setting limits, discipline,
enforcing rules, allowing children freedom to discover things in
their environment, and more. The Parenting Solutions group is
designed for parents of children ages 12 months to 12 years.
This eight-week group meets once per week for two hours each time.
Certificates are awarded to each participant for successful completion
of the group. This group is offered free of charge to York County
parents. Pre-registration is required. On-site child care is available
for a nominal fee. Click here to view the
Parenting Group Schedule.
Becoming a Love and Logic Parent
This group allows parents to gain effective, practical tools that
reduce the stress of parenting and build the foundation for lasting,
loving relationships between parents and children. The Love and
Logic philosophy allows children to make choices in safe situations
and learn from the consequences of their choices. It helps parents/caregivers
to reinforce positive relationships with their kids without resorting
to anger, threats, or lectures.

Parenting Infants
This group teaches new parents important infant parenting skills.
Parents are invited to bring their baby to each session and enjoy
a time to talk with other new parents. Parenting is an important
job and, just like other jobs, training and support are important.
These sessions offer parents information that will make it easier
to understand their baby and enjoy parenting. Topics of interest
include infant development, crying, schedules, play and learning,
safety, and consistency.
This six-week group meets once per week for two hours each time.
This group is free of charge to York County parents of infants from
birth to 12 months of age. Pre-registration is required. Click here

important parenting topics such as power struggles, better communication,
and parenting the challenging child. These sessions are free of
