Family-Child Resources offers
the largest parent education program in the area, serving over 900 parents last
year. Parents in York County can participate free of charge in a variety of parenting
classes offered at different times and locations. Parenting
Solutions This class offers parents an opportunity to understand children's
behavior and learn basic principles of child management. Parents who are seeking
enrichment and parents who are having problems with their children are encouraged
to attend. Discussion topics include: consistency, being a good role model,
setting limits, discipline, enforcing rules, allowing children freedom to discover
things in their environment, truancy and more. The Parenting Solutions
group is designed for parents of children ages 12 months to 18 years.
This eight-week class meets once per week for two hours each time. Certificates
are awarded to each participant for successful completion of the class. This class
is offered free of charge to York County parents. Pre-registration is required.

Solutions for Parents of Preschoolers This class is designed
for parents of children ages one to five years. Parents will learn the developmental
stages of preschoolers, effective discipline and communication strategies, and
what expectations are appropriate for this age group.
This four-week class meets once per week for two hours each time. Certificates
are awarded to each participant for successful completion of the class. This class
is offered free of charge to York County parents. Pre-registration is required.

Teens with Love and Logic Parenting teens in today's world is more
challenging than ever before. Teens are dealing with the issues of drugs, alcohol,
smoking, sex, peer pressure, and violence in school and on the street. Help your
teen by giving them the tools they need to face the choices of today's world. This
four-week class meets once per week for two hours each time. Certificates are
awarded to each participant for successful completion of the class. This class
is offered free of charge to York County parents. Pre-registration is required.

a Love and Logic Parent® This class allows parents to gain effective,
practical tools that reduce the stress of parenting and build the foundation for
lasting, loving relationships between parents and children. The Love and Logic®
philosophy allows children to make choices in safe situations and learn from the
consequences of their choices. It helps parents/caregivers to reinforce positive
relationships with their kids without resorting to anger, threats, or lectures.

Your Infant This series of classes teaches new parents important infant
parenting skills. Parents are invited to bring their baby to each session and
enjoy a time to talk with other new parents. Parenting is an important job and,
just like other jobs, training and support are important. These classes offer
parents information that will make it easier to understand their baby and enjoy
parenting. Topics of interest include infant development, crying, schedules,
play and learning, safety, and consistency. This
six-week class meets once per week for two hours each time. This class is free
of charge to York County parents of infants from birth to 12 months of age. Pre-registration

Your Infant - Teen Parents-To-Be This series of classes is
for expecting teen parents. The classes offer support, information, and practical
tips for teen parents as the prepare for their new role. Topics discussed include:
Becoming Mommy/Still A Teen, Keeping Baby Safe, Managing Your Time, Play Time,
Bonding, Routines, and Managing Stress.
This two-week class meets once per week for two hours each time. This class is
free of charge to York County parents of infants from birth to 12 months of age.

Topic Classes We offer several parenting classes during the year that
focus on important parenting topics such as power struggles, better communication,
